Improvodox and Friends Sun Oct 29 2006 7:00 pm - We are a nondenominational, Shomer Shabbat comedy troupe that explores both Jewish and secular themes in the famed tradition of Chicago-style longform comedy improvisation. Our performers are: Maya Batash, Evi Simons, Talya Gorsetman, Marc Spear, Joel Granik, Andrea Steiner, Elli Meyer and Aaron Tabackman. Directed by Mark Grenier (The Magnet Theater & The Peoples Improv Theater). We are also featuring special guests: Michael Salloway, comedian and two-time winner of the Jewish Week’s Jewish Comic of the Year (2004 and 2006); and OWL, a modern folk rock duo comprising singer/songwriter Joe Helmreich and guitarist/songwriter David Steiner, who take their inspiration from Simon and Garfunkel, the Beatles, and Bob Dylan. OWL is the thoughts and experiences of two observant Jews coming of age in a tumultuous time, one in which the spiritual truths of old ring ever louder.
