MBTI, or The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator in short is a quick and easy way to identify a persons personality. With a simple set of four characters you can easily describe your personality and allow others to know what kind of person you are (personality wise). Below is information on how to determine your MBTI.
The Myers-Briggs categorizes preferences on four dimensions:
| Extraversion (E) | OR | Introversion (I) |
| Sensing (S) | OR | Intuition (N) |
| Thinking (T) | OR | Feeling (F) |
| Judging (J) | OR | Perceiving (P) |
One's four letter combination is that person's type. For example, ESFJ.
There are two components to type:
Your Type: This is who you are, how you act toward others, how you view the world.
Your Attraction Type: This is what you look for in a mate. It is how you want others, particularly those of the opposite gender, to act toward you. Your attraction type can also be thought of as who you ultimately wish to become more like; how you wish to actualize yourself. There is no correlation between your type and your attraction type. Your attraction type can be identical to your type, your four letter opposite, and everything in between.
Please Note: Before taking the test, it is important to note that a person is always either one or the other - there is no in-between. As you take the test, if you are not sure about which type you are, this usually means that you are one, attracted to the other. For example, you may be an E attracted to an I. Since our attraction type is, in essence, the personality that you strive to become, it is important not to fall into the pitfall of typing yourself as you ideally see yourself. For example, an Introvert might be attracted to Extraverts, want to be more extraverted, and idealize him/herself as an Extravert, but deep down inside, if that person really thought about it, he/she would properly identify him/herself as an introvert. Be sure to type yourself as you are!
